BOB MALONE - Johnny D's Uptown
The "Ain't What You Know" New England CD Release
Saturday, September 18 at 7:00pm
17 Holland Street, Somerville, MA 617.776.2004
"Bob Malone doesn't just accompany himself on piano. He supports his singing with pulsating, roaring keyboard work that grabs you and shakes you until you cry for mercy"
Keyboard Magazine
(Los Angeles) - Blues/rock piano man Bob Malone has been touring nonstop for a year behind his latest album "Ain't What You Know," which has been receiving raves in magazines, newspapers and blogs on three continents. Bob kicked off the "Ain't What You Know" Tour at Los Angeles's The Mint for a special release show with the all-star musicians featured on the album, including Leland Sklar (Jackson Browne, James Taylor), Mike Baird (Bob Dylan, Journey, Hall & Oates), Marty Rifkin (Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty), and Lee Thornburg (Tower of Power, Chicago, Rod Stewart). The tour has since continued on to Europe, Australia and most of the US, including high-profile support slots with Dr. John, Leon Russel, and Subdudes.
Bob's show at Johnny D's will feature his great East Coast touring rhythm section and the first 20 people in the door will receive a free copy of the video single for "No One Can Hurt You." Cover is $10, and children are welcome with parents with dinner reservations.
Called a musician's musician and a pianist's pianist, Malone is touted by critics across multiple genres.
"A new peak in what's been a rather mountainous career, Malone's latest shows off everything that makes him great and more...the kind of record you can listen to over and over, the way records used to be. Great songs, amazing production and playing, it doesn't get much better than this" says Filter Magazine.
"The presence of first-call players like Leland Sklar and Marty Rifkin, alongside the artist's New Orleans drenched piano, raises the bar for this troubadour. On "Ain't What You Know," Bob Malone is clearly in the big leagues," raves Music Connection.
"US blues pianist Bob Malone cakewalked all over the keys with rip-roaring pyrotechnics that were part skill and part showmanship, often eschewing the piano stool and jumping around like a rock star. [But] beneath the banter and the wizardry Bob Malone revealed a raw and splendidly large heart" says The West Australian.
Known for his dazzling stage show, Bob Malone is a favorite across the country, across the pond and even down under. "Ain't What You Know" was produced by Bob DeMarco of DeMarco Productions ("Entertainment Tonight, "Dr. Phil.") through Delta Moon Records and is distributed by Burnside Distribution.
